從敬畏到敬拜

我們所能從事的最偉大的活動是什麼呢？就是敬拜上帝！敬拜不是例行公事般草率地反覆祈求，也不是聆聽激動人心的音樂。查理．衛斯理說，敬拜乃是「陶醉在奇妙、摯愛和讚美中」的體驗。是敬畏激發出敬拜頌讚。

第一眼看到大峽谷，我驚嘆得說不出話來。開車載我去的朋友默默地站在我身邊，欣賞我的反應。那鬼斧神工的奇景震攝住了我，讓我不由自主地想到，這只不過是上帝榮美的一瞥而已。不過，我的敬畏，只是敬畏而已，還不是敬拜。

在我與聖經中的耶穌面對面時，我的反應就截然不同了。當我真正看到耶穌的榮美時，敬畏就變成了敬拜。是什麼抓住了我的心呢？是他毫無玷污的純潔：「你們中 間誰能指證我有罪呢？」（約翰福音8章46節）是他無人能比的智慧：「從來沒有像他這樣說話的」（約翰福音7章46節）。是他無限的憐憫：「他看見許多的 人，就憐憫他們」（馬太福音9章36節）。還有他無與倫比的尊榮：「就在他們面前變了形像」（馬太福音17章2節）。

當我看到福音書中的耶穌時，我的敬畏就變成了敬拜。我就屈身敬拜，像多馬一樣大呼：「我的主，我的上帝！」（約翰福音20章28節）VCG

I used to expect great music during worship and any singing short of perfect is not acceptable to me. But one day during worship, a girl who is "musical challenged" was singing besdies me, and I can feel her longing for God through her singing. The lesson for me is to worship God from the heart, and not just be a spectator. We can worship God in many ways, whether it is singing, testifying, or loving others, so long that we are "in it". For me, worship time will always be a time of awe and love for God.
