An Eternal Perspective 永恆視野

在電影「神鬼戰士」（Gladiator）中，大將軍麥柯希穆在與日爾曼人決戰前夕，為了鼓舞騎兵士氣，就激勵他們全力以赴。他說了一句意味深長的話：「我們在今世所做的將迴響於永恆之中。」 (What we do in this life echoes in eternity)

這位虛構的軍事統帥所傳遞的有力信念，對基督徒而言具有特別的意義。我們並非是在宇宙中一塊漂浮的巨石上浪費光陰、白佔地土，而是有機會改變我們永恆的命運。

耶穌自己說過：「只要積攢財寶在天上，天上沒有蟲子咬，不能銹壞，也沒有賊挖窟窿來偷」（馬太福音6章20節）。抱著為永恆而活的觀念，會讓我們在今世的生活完全改觀。

那麼，我們怎麼學習思念「天上的事」呢？（歌羅西書3章2節）有個不錯的起點是：去發現永恆的上帝看重的是什麼。祂藉著聖經告訴我們，祂看重我們這個人，而非財產；祂看重我們的品格，而非表現。這些是亙古不變的真理，接受這些真理，能賦予我們的日常生活永恆的意義。WEC

It is truly unfathomable to contemplate eternity, and most of us probably never want or know how to approach this question. Perhaps the Bible can give us a guide on doing it. If we accept the concept of eternity, then we truly will have a different perspective on what we should do in our lives. Should we do something that will "echo" in eternity in our worldly existence? Should we do things guided by God so we can accumulate our eternal wealth?
